PEOPLE INVOLVED IN PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO INCIDENT:

Driver Chief Gary Fisher utilized cutters on passenger side
Officer Logan beers assisted and instructed operations on drivers side.
Firefighter Tony sweigart utilized spreaders on passenger side.
Firefighter Mason Fisher utilized the spreaders on the drivers side.
Firefighter Thomas renno and Firefighter cody Wiles set up the rescue struts to stabilize the vehicle. They assisted with extracation after stabilization was completed.
Chief Kevin Koch was command of the incident.

DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:

On 5/14/2021 at 0723 company 5 was dispatched to the 6000 block of Whitedeer pike for a report of a car overturned multiple times on its roof with entrapment. When units where enroute the first arriving medic updated dispatch they were on scene with heavy entrapment x 2 after striking a large tree after rolling. Two life flight hilocopters were placed on standby due to the nature of the vehicle. When the rescue arrived Beers instructed Wiles and Renno to start stabilizing the vehical that was on its roof. Chief Fisher and Firefighter Sweigart utilized the cutters to cut the hinges on the passenger side door. The spreaders were then utilized to spread the door away from the car to gain access to the pateint. The reinforced door made it difficult to do the push. The cutters where then utilized to cut the bar that reinforced the door. This allowed the door to be spread the rest of the way to expose the patient. The patient was able to be removed by ems personal. Lieutenant Beers and Firefighter Fisher on the drivers side simultaneously as the crew worked on the passenger side checked on the position of the driver prior to utilizing the spreaders to spread the door away from the car. Fisher placed the spreaders where the Nader bolt was located and began to spread the door away from the car. In one clean motion the door was spread away and access was gained to remove the driver of the car. The patients were transported by ground ALS to a trauma center. Extracation from time on scene was less then 10 minutes.
