DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:

On the date of October 27, 2022, at approximately 11:30AM, CFD units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with heavy entrappment at the intersection of US Hwy. 49 S & Sunset Road. Upon arrival FD-1 reported two vehicles, both with heavy entrappment. One vehicle, a four-door passenger car, had two victims entrapped, the driver & front seat passenger, both of which were entrapped in the vehicle floorboard & dash area with extensive injuries. The second vehicle, a fullsize pick-up truck, had one victim entrapped, the driver. Both vehicles would require the use of CFD's AMKUS Hydraulic Rescue Tools to efectively extricate. Personnel under FD-1's command began the extrication of the passenger cars victims. Due to the extent of their injuries, personnel removed vehicle doors on both sides, as well as having to cut the seatback of the drivers seat for access to the driver. After an extensive & careful extrication, CFD personnel were able to extricate both the driver and passenger, and transfer care to the awaiting ambulance crew with transportation to a local trauma center. The driver of the pick-up truck was then extricated and safely transferred to the awaiting ambulance with less severe injuries. All patients were effectively extricated by CFD crews and transported by EMS personnel to the proper level of care facility within the "Golden-Hour" from mechanism of injury occuring & reciept of advanced medical intervention care. CFD has relied upon our AMKUS Tools for many years, beginning in the early 1980's with the purchase of our very first set of Hydraulic Rescue Tools. We have always greatly valued their excellent performance under pressure, each and every rescue incident!
