Description of Incident:
On 10/18/2018, at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during a practice session for the Fall Classic/ Senator's Cup Open Comp race a super late model stock car experienced a mechanical failure on the front stretch causing the car to crash head-on into the Turn #1 wall at over 100 miles per hour, The young male driver was trapped, disoriented, and complaining of multiple Injuries.
The safety crew arrived on scene quickly and the medical staff assessed that the roof of the race car would have to be removed to safely remove the drtver from the race car. Both AMKUS cutters were deployed and the safety crew worked in unison on the left and right sides of the car to quickly and efficiently remove the roof and allow the medical team to gain access to the injured driver.
The driver was stabilized and removed from the car and transferred lo a waiting ambulance for transport to the local trauma center. The driver had broken ribs, a concussion, and aggravation to previous neck fractures. He spent 24 hours at the hospital but made it back to the track to watch the rest of the race weekend.
