Description of Incident:
During the U.S. Legend Car International World Finals Masters Division main event held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 18th, 2014, there was a multi-car crash on the front stretch. One of the race cars driven by a 58 YO male that was involved in the accident was T-boned in the passenger door, spun around and then was hit again and T-boned in the driver’s door by another car entering the crash site out of control. The driver was trapped in his race car due to both left and right side doors being severely damaged in the crash. The driver was awake and alert but was complaining or lower extremity and chest/rib cage pain. The safety crew immediately deployed the Amkus Speedway cutters to cut away the running boards, nerf bars, and mangled doors from the race car to gain access to the cockpit and assist the driver to self extricate. After being evaluated on track and then again a short while later in the pit area, the medical crew determined that the driver’s injuries were not severe enough to need any further medical attention.
