AT THE TRACK OR ON THE ROAD, TRUST AMKUS RESCUE SYSTEMS

News

  • VALPARAISO, IN – AMKUS Rescue Systems, an industry leader in providing cutting edge hydraulic extrication equipment and rescue systems to emergency responders worldwide, announces its intent to acquire 911 Tools, a US manufacturer of vehicle stabilization equipment and lifting systems.

“This is a patented, state-of-the-art system that integrates the strength, speed, control and dependability of hand-powered hydraulics with the structural components of the strut,” said Kyle Smith, president of AMKUS Rescue Systems. “It’s an affordable system that’s easy to set up and operate, and is rated for structural loads, so rescue professionals can confidently raise and lower materials as quickly as the circumstances of their particular emergency requires.”

The 911 Tools rescue strut product line, which is marketed under the RescueStrut brand name, includes accessories that will allow emergency responders to transform vehicle stabilization struts into other life-saving rescue tools such as manual hydraulic rams and shoring struts, as well as tri-pod, bi-pod and mono-pole adapters for use in rope rescue scenarios. In addition, the RescueStrut system can be easily configured for trench, structural collapse or confined space rescues.

“Not only does this complement our existing AMKUS line of extrication equipment and rope rescue systems, but it also puts us in the position to offer a wider range of high quality rescue products to our customers at an affordable price.” Smith added. “This acquisition further supports our efforts to provide the best in class rescue systems to our global market.”

Following the expected August 1st completion of the acquisition, 911 Tools will move from its current Lansing, IA home to the newly completed AMKUS World Headquarters in Valparaiso, IN. The RescueStrut line of equipment will then be marketed under the AMKUS brand, and distributed by AMKUS and 911 Tool distributors within their existing territories.

    Thu, Mar 6 2014 12:00:00

Regardless of the degree of vehicle damage and the resulting level of entrapment, it is the responsibility of the responders to safely and effectively mitigate motor vehicle collisions. The foundation for successful mitigation is a solid, strong set of strategies based on the incident conditions.

  • Presented by Ron Moore, retired Division Chief and Author of over 200 University of Extrication articles

    October 3, 2013

With increasing frequency, fire departments are reporting an inability to cut through common structural areas such as the B-pillars of late model vehicles. The normal rescue cutting tools are stalling out and they may be essentially out-gunned by new, ultra high-strength steel alloys called ‘advanced steels.’ These steels, such as Boron, can be found    in the roof pillars, roof rail, or rocker channels on a wide array of late-model vehicles, especially beginning with the 2012 model year. During the presentation, Ron Moore brings the pages of his University of Extrication series on this topic to life as he    explains the lessons learned from his nearly year-long research project on the challenges presented by these advanced steels. Learn how they are being used by auto manufacturers to meet the 2012 model year crash standards. Is your rescue team ready for the challenge of advanced steel?

  • Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District hosted the 3rd Annual Crunch Time Extrication Competition and Learning Symposium on September 27-29, 2013 at Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District’s Station #3.  This event helps departments train new personnel with both classroom and a practical skills workshop.  On Sunday the public is invited to a full day of extrication competitions.  Rescue teams of five firefighters compete in two 20 minute scenarios throughout the day.  Teams are judged on their use of tools and how they get their patient out of the damaged vehicles.

We are proud to announce that the Byron Fire Dept. Team 1, a long time AMKUS user, took second in the Unlimited Competition and second for the Overall Competition (limited and unlimited pits).

Congratulations to the Byron Fire Dept. and keep up the good work!
